Ms. XinYan (Paula) Wang has been practicing in the intellectual property field for more than 10 years. She is admitted to handle patent matters before both China and US Patent and Trademark Office and also practices law in China.

Paula assists international and domestic clients in obtaining patent and trademark protections, enforcing their IP rights in China and defending validity challenges. She is experienced with proceedings before patent and trademark administrative authorities and courts. She is frequently involved in administrative and court proceedings involving matters with respect to patentability, patent validity, patent infringement, trademark infringement and unfair competition. Paula’s practice also includes patent risk assessment and patent portfolio management. She prepares opinions on freedom to operate, due diligence and patent validity, and negotiates agreements for dispute settlement and licensing matters.

Paula’s practice centers on patent and other technology-related matters. Technologies she has been most involved with are chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical, polymer and mechanical.

Paula received her scientific education both in China and US and received her law degree on intellectual property in US. She is bilingual in English and Chinese.

Educational Background

Paula attained two master degrees, one in Intellectual Property Law and Commerce in the University of New Hampshire School of Law, the other in Applied Chemistry in Beijing University of Chemical Technology. She also holds a bachelor degree in Fine Chemical Engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology.
